Weekend Getaway in Jacksonville with Kids

I've spent lots of time in Jacksonville in my life visiting my mom's family and the places where she grew up. It's almost like a 3rd home to me. Visiting Jacksonville with kids can be fun for a weekend at the beach with the wide shoreline and fresh seafood restaurants.

This state park has everything kids want on a beach without all of the crowds. Kids load up with shells they've found along the waterline to take home and make crafts with their found treasure! Take the kids camping in the state park with some of the best hiking trails through Florida's natural forests.
We like to get off the mainland and out to the Atlantic, so chartering a fishing boat is perfect for our family. Bring your sunscreen and swimsuit along because you never know when you'll get the chance to take a dip in the open ocean. As a mom, I make sure to have a waterproof camera handy for when my girls reel in THE BIG ONE!
There are some weekends when we don't want to take a charter boat out onto the Atlantic. Those days we take a walk on the pier with our fishing poles to catch a few fish. Stop on your way out the pier to get your bait and tackle, and check the fishing reports to see what you may find the day you're fishing.
