Stonington Vacations, Tourism & Travel Information
Our Take on Stonington, Connecticut
If the travelers wanted extreme adventures while climbing rocky cliffs, then the town of Stonington in Connecticut is not the place to visit. Stonington does not offer that kind of excitement. But Stonington vacations do offer numerous opportunities for relaxation as the family on vacation enjoys the view of the sea, the charming beauty of this quaint town, and the historical sites of Stonington.
The livelihood and lifestyle of the folks of Stonington are heavily influenced by the sea. They were enchanted by the beauty of the surroundings and the abundance of food. To feel an almost similar experience and to see the fishing fleet, travelers and vacationing families are advised to stay in Stonington accommodations that are located near the waterfront. The Inn at Stonington is recommended because it has been named by the Travel and Leisure Magazine as the “Inn of the Month.” The Stonington Borough is also named as the Jewel of Connecticut’s Coast for the sheer breathtaking splendor of the town. To savor this beauty, the travelers can take leisurely strolls at the Gardens by the Sea. These are actually 10 private gardens and one Children’s Community Garden that were opened to the public. And finally, another must-see place is the Old Lighthouse Museum, where a 30-foot tall tower, which once stood as a guiding beacon for seafarers, is now a historical landmark that showcased various exhibits about the history and culture of Stonington. This is open only from May to November.
