Mystic, CT - Do It Local
I take most of my trips with my husband, but this is a trip I took with my fiance (husband to be), before he was my husband. Coming from a conservative background we needed seperate rooms, but on a budget, so this was a difficult trip to plan, but it was possible with a little research!
Architects and the like would love this. Everything in this castle was hand carved or etched by mr Gilette. He made the doors the banisters... everything. It's very impressive!
Sail away for a sunset cruise with your sweetheart. We opted for a Friday night sunset cruise. On board you are provided with wine or soda and appetizers like fruit and cheese and crackers. It was about 90 minutes start to finish, and very enjoyable.
You won't get rained out, and because of all the black lights, your clothing change color which is always fun for the kids.

You won't get rained out, and because of all the black lights, your clothing change color which is always fun for the kids. The monsters aren't creepy, they are just funny. Kids who are afraid of the dark may not like this, but there are plenty of neon lights to add light.

As I mentioned before my husband (then fiance) and i didn't share a room prior to being married, so we had to find a 2 room suite on a budget, and this one fit the bill. We had seperate rooms and a shared living space, and it was perfect.
Made famous in Julia Robert's break-out movie: Mystic Pizza. It's fun to visit, if for no other reason, than the name.

Ocean Beach Park has a beach and some rides and consession stands, but it's not that impressive. They charge you to come in for the day and then it was cold and windy when we went. I would suggest going on a very warm day and making a day of it, to make it worth your money. More
