Mystic, Connecticut with Kids

Most people have only heard of Mystic, Connecticut from the Julia Roberts movie, Mystic Pizza. But New Englanders have known for years that Mystic is a fabulous destination for families not because of the pizza but because of the family-friendly attractions! I grew up going to Mystic, which is a convenient road trip not only for families from Boston and Rhode Island.

Residence Inn by Marriott Mystic Groton
Traveling with kids is hard, especially when it comes down to staying in one room. So, whenever I have the chance, I like to find suite hotels. Residence Inn by Marriott is a great option, and is not far from most of the attractions.

Mystic Pizza
Surely you've heard of Mystic Pizza. And, my kids seem to love pizza more than anything else. So, a stop at Mystic Pizza during your trip is a great idea. It's located right downtown, so you can also stop in at some of the local shops also.
Traveling with kids is hard, especially when it comes down to staying in one room.

Mystic Seaport
Mystic Seaport is really geared toward those families with kids who love ships and boats. Otherwise, you may not enjoy it. But it really is wonderful for those who really want to learn more about boats.

Mystic Aquarium
The Mystic Aquarium is one of my favorites, because of its manageable size. You'll even find the only Beluga whales in New England. Like other aquariums, it's a bit on the expensive side. If you are going to do this and the Mystic Seaport on your trip, I definitely recommend the Mystic Pass.

Williams Beach Park
Mystic is right on the water, so if you go during the warm months, you'll probably want to visit the beach. Williams Beach Park has no lifeguards, but does have a playground.
Mystic Seaport is really geared toward those families with kids who love ships and boats.
