The folks of Milford, Connecticut love to call their community as the “Small City with a Big Heart.” It is the sixth oldest town in Connecticut and it has a growing population. Its geographical area is relatively small compared to other cities but its “town green,” a meticulously maintained tourist attraction, is considered as the second longest in New England. Thus, Milford is major tourist destinations and this is why there are numerous Milford accommodations where travelers can stay. There are many things to do in Milford. An excellent guide for travelers, whether the Milford vacations are family outings or romantic getaways, can be found at the Milford Chamber of Commerce. The travelers can easily plan which Milford restaurants to go and which stores to shop. For a blast of history, travelers can also visit Fort Trumbull, which was built during the Revolution. Another place to see is the Underground Railroad that was intensively used during the Civil War. And still another place to see is the Wharf Lane Complex where three 18th homes remained standing and preserved by the Milford Historical Society. If travelers wanted more thrilling Milford vacations, then they can tour the harbor that witnessed the shipbuilding and oystering industries of the city. And what could be more thrilling than investigating the location of the buried treasure on the small island called Poquahaug. It is one the islands where the infamous Captain Kidd stayed.
