One example is the Marian Hunter History Room which is part of the Avon Free Public Library. It houses the photographs, scrapbooks, and other memorabilia that tell interesting stories about the time. The place is not just kid-friendly but also accessible for the physically-challenged. Another example is the Living Museum on Main Street. It also contains artifacts and memorabilia that date back to the 19^th century. And still another example is the First Governor’s House Guards and Stables. It is the oldest cavalry unit in the country that has operated continuously. This 35-acre military reservation has 40 stall barns, one drill field, 2 outdoor rings, about 40 horses, and numerous wooded trails.
