Meeker Vacations, Tourism & Travel Information
Our Take on Meeker, Colorado
Meeker, Colorado, located in the beautiful White River Valley, and ancestral home of the Ute Indians, is a hunter's mecca. Situated in the White River National forest, with a staggering population of 30,000 elk, this town of 2200 people attracts nature lovers and hunters from miles around. People also travel here annually for the Sheepdog championship trials. This is a very fun event, that's kid friendly and pet friendly (of course). The event hosts a craft fair, food galore (including weekend pancake breakfasts and lamb barbeque) and regular bagpipe performances.
With Meeker's proximity to the Flat Tops Wilderness and four beautiful lakes, Meeker vacations will give you many things to do. Activities include horseback riding, backpacking, hiking, rafting, fishing, deer and elk hunting, and snowmobiling and cross country skiing in winter. We recommend a visit to Meeker Town Park for trout fishing on the White River, which is a lot of fun for the whole family. For the great white hunter, there are guides available that will take you on successful hunts. For Meeker, Colorado accomodations, we recommend the Meeker Hotel & Cafe, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The lodgings here were erected soon after the founding of the city, and reflect the culture and history of Meeker.
