Breckenridge Romantic Splurge

The Victorian era was one of the most romantic periods in American history. Breckenridge, Colorado, a former Victorian mining town, is fiercely faithful to its Victorian heritage. Splurge on romance, and stay at a turn of the century inn, and enjoy dinner in a former mansion turned restaurant.

A series of Victorian cottages dot the tree-lined French street. That purple house, with the garden out front, is the Abbett Placer Inn. Your host brings you to your room, where lase curtains line the windows and floral bedspreads adorn the beds. Luxuriate in the hot tub before bed time, and wake up to a breakfast of Grand Marnier french toast, fresh fruits and homemade muffins.
You might be sore after spending a day skiing the slopes or hiking the Breckenridge mountains. Luckily, the Meridian Spa at the Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge offers couple's massage. All massages include aromatherapy, so indulge your senses in the sweet smell of romance.
Back in the 19th century, when a new school was built in Breckenridge, Kaiser and his family housed school children from other towns, whose families might not have transportation to Breckenridge.
It's late afternoon. Too early for dinner but too late for lunch. The Blue River Bistro happy hour provides a perfect solution. Dimmed lights, soft jazz and local artwork create an ambiance conducive to romance, matched only by martini selections with names like Champagne Dreams, Pearadise Martini, and Pomegranate Mojito.

Back in the 19th century, when a new school was built in Breckenridge, Kaiser and his family housed school children from other towns, whose families might not have transportation to Breckenridge. Today, the Hearthstone maintains it Victorian elegance, while serving gourmet meals seamlessly matched with an extensive wine selection.
