OUR TAKE ON WHITTIER
Located around 12 miles southeast from Los Angeles City, Whittier is a great family vacation destination because of its vast campgrounds and expansive greeneries. With a population of just 87,000, this 14.8 square mile city managed to retain its small town appeal while being progressive at the same time. There are approximately one dozen Whittier accommodations you can choose from depending on your budget. But probably the most notable features in Whittier can be found in its parks. There are more than a dozen of them including the Anaconda Park, Broadway Park, Central Park, Greenway Trail, the Hellman Park, Guirado Park, and J.G. Whittier Park among others.
The Anaconda Park offers basic features such as picnic tables, court basketballs, and play equipment for the campers. Meanwhile, the Broadway Park has tennis courts and horseshoe pit in addition to the basic camp recreational facilities. If you want to experience more than just the basic on Whittier vacations, go to the Greenway Trail. The Greenway Trail has a five mile trail which can be used for walking or cycling; this expansive area is developed to have an easement along city limits so that pedestrians and cyclers can pass through the town.

R-23 Japanese Cuisine and Art Gallery
"Let's see, we ordered steak with ponzu sauce, soft shell crab, black cod, and 26 pieces of sushi for $116. Make sure you ask the prices on the items without prices. The lobster tempura was $55 so we passed. The fresh water eel is some of the best around. The other sushi is very good, maybe not the best in LA, but definitely excellent. Yup, the location is not the best, but I have been coming here for years and have not had any problems." - a Citysearch user

California Science Center
"Our daughters are not science-oriented, but agreed to try the camp, and while they will not be returning this summer, we all thought it was a very good experience: my oldest (9) dissected a squid, a grasshopper and a flower, and my youngest was introduced to basic rocketry and the science of magic. The aftercare was not great: a bare blacktop and a couple of board games and very little staff interaction. It was mostly just a caretaking operation until parents showed up, and the kids were bored." - a Go City Kids user
