Ukiah Weekend on a Budget

Hand-sign3

Ukiah is a small town but there is still a lot to do on a weekend. If you are looking to relax, Ukiah is a good place to be.

Managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Cow Mountain Recreation Area offers many free-form outdoor recreation options. There are also 13 wildlife reseviors. From hiking trails to wildlife watching, the 52,000 acre recreation area has enough rough room to roam for days.
This vineyard offers wine tasting as well as concerts. Check their website for concert information before going. During the Summer there is a lot of music, and getting advance tickets will make it easy. The Summer concert series at the vineyards is still only $10 per concert, making it a very affordable way to spend a weekend afternoon.
They are the only cheesecake place I know of that offers a gluten-free selection.
Lake Mendocino is the jewel of Ukiah. This lake offers boating, camping, fishing, and any other water activity you can think of. It is a great way to spend a day enjoying nature and having fun
An artsy cafe in downtown Ukiah, the Windmill offers a chance to relax and unwind. The food is traditional American and the service is outstanding. Prices are very reasonable-even for a cafe.
Swing by Cheesecake Momma's on the way out of town to enjoy one of their famous cheesecakes. They are the only cheesecake place I know of that offers a gluten-free selection. I usually take one to go and enjoy it at home that night. My favorite is the Blackberry Key Lime!

This hotel offers great views of the surrounding area in a rustic setting. The hotel is priced the same as the national chains, and for this reason it is easy on the pocketbook. I recommend this hotel because of its unique character and helpful staff. More
