Tiburon Weekend with Kids

Tiburon is a quaint little seaside town just north of San Francisco. The weather is generally nice here, although sometimes there's coastal fog. When it's clear, the views of San Francisco and the bay are stunning. The downtown area has great restaurants and fun shopping, and there's a bike path that runs all the way into town, with terrific views of Mt. Tamalpais and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Tiburon Lodge is conveniently located right in the center of Tiburon. From here you can walk to shops, restaurants, and to the ferry to Angel Island. There is a great restaurant right on site-- the Tiburon Grill. The food is tasty and eclectic pub-style fare and they have excellent Happy Hour specials.

Sam's has been around for half a century. My mom went here the day she met my dad. With so many restaurants changing hands, they must be doing something right to stay in business for decades. The food is delicious and the views are spectacular. It's especially nice to sit out on the deck on a sunny afternoon. Great drinks, too. My favorite is the Sam's Smoothie (leaded or unleaded.) The bar serves free popcorn. Sailors can pull their boats right up to the dock.
There's a large outdoor deck with incredible views of Angel Island, the bay and the San Francisco skyline.

Guaymas serves gourmet Mexican food. There's a large outdoor deck with incredible views of Angel Island, the bay and the San Francisco skyline. The last time I went here was for a wedding rehearsal dinner, and we were treated to a spectacular sunset.
This is a wonderful place to get away from it all. You can take the ferry to Angel Island from Tiburon. There are miles of hiking trails, BBQs and picnic tables, a large grassy field and a small beach. You can also camp with advanced reservations.
Located right on the water, the Tiburon Railroad and Ferry museaum is rich in local history. It has cool models of the old railroad and ferries that used to run through Tiburon. The kids will love it.
