Comfortable, individually themed, cozy rooms are a great spark for that inner fire. A great, full breakfast is provided with eggs from their coop and produce from their garden. Rates run from just over $100 to $239 for two.
It's time to pack up for a picnic! A stop at this little shop in Amador City...just a couple of miles down the road...will fit the bill nicely. A great selection of artisan breads, desserts, and cheeses make this the best picnic provisioner around. There's also a nice selection of local wines, Belgian beers, and microbrews.
This was actually an old reform school but the dilapidated building still sits menacingly overlooking the little town of Ione (5 miles west of Sutter Creek).
California produces some of the best wine in the world and Amador County makes some of best bold red wines in the state, especially zinfandel and sangiovese. Buy the best wine you tasted, head out behind the old miner's shack that is their tasting room, and have your quiet, romantic picnic in their spectacular picnic area overlooking the adjacent Consumnes River Canyon. Tasting is free, wines start around $8 a bottle.

Frightening goosebumps are a great way to make sure your love settles into your arms. What's better than walking through a haunted castle? This was actually an old reform school but the dilapidated building still sits menacingly overlooking the little town of Ione (5 miles west of Sutter Creek). It's supposed to be haunted by the ghosts of some of the boys who have died here over the years. The Preston Castle Foundation offers tours on the first and third Saturdays of the month, March through October. $10 for adults, $5 for kids.
