Stockton Weekend with the Kids

Hand-toy-soldiers

Hey, I bet you never considered piling the kids in the car and going to Stockton for the weekend. Even if you stop by for a couple of days on your way to someplace else, it's worth a visit to experience some of Stockton's family friendly activities. The Children's Museum will provide hours of interactive educational fun and don't forget to visit the Oak Grove Regional Park. Take a paddle boat out on the lake, have a picnic lunch and of course, drop by the Micke Grove Zoo. For the highlight of the trip, how about a getaway that includes a hot air balloon ride over the San Joaquin Valley?

This little museum is one big, interactive, hands-on, learning experience for kids. This museum features a number of rooms like a bank, post office and store just for kids. Kids can withdraw cash from the pretend bank, post a pretend letter and go shopping their own (pretend) store. What fun!

Besides the Micke Grove Zoo, Oak Grove Regional Park has large shady oak trees, a nature center, a Japanese garden, an amusement park with rides, plenty of areas for picnicking and playing and a lake for paddle-boating. Entrance to the zoo is $4 for adults, $2 for youth (under 17) and free to toddlers under 2.

Voted the best of the San Joaquin in 2009 this little restaurant specializes in perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth stakes and lobster. This is a true family restaurant and there is something good to eat here for everyone. Dad will love the tender and mouthwatering steaks. Mom can order some succulent lobster. Sharing one plate of food is a good idea for young kids as the servings are huge.
Inn-N-Out is probably the best of the big burger chains (hey, the meat actually tastes like meat here) and it is a good place to go with a gaggle of finicky kids. This place is clean, efficient, economical and mui popular! Good old American drive-through hamburgers and fresh hot (yes, I said hot) fries.
Up, up and away! Let Professor Muldoon wield his big balloon magic and your kids will have one of those special days they will never forget. Feel the fresh air and sun on your faces as you watch farmland, vineyards and the big wide world slides silently beneath you.

I am the Vice President of an international, non-profit conservation organization, Save the Turtles, Inc. My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science. My goal, with each writing assignment, is to match each clients individual needs by writing with an appropriate "voice" and level of readability for each unique, target audience.
