If you're looking for off-the-beaten-path lodging, consider a HomeAway vacation rental, of which there are several right at the base of Sierra!

Zephyr Cove Resort
If you're looking for a resort on the lake shore (on the Nevada side), Zephyr Cove has both cabins and lodge rooms. Best of all, daily snowmobile tours depart from this resort. We loved the experience, and recommend their Kids Ride Free deals (usually Thursdays during non-holidays). Tours are approx. $119 for one rider, $159 for two.

For an unforgettable addition to your Tahoe vacation, consider a scenic helicopter ride with HeliTahoe. Their tours start at just $55 per person, and my nine-year-old and I loved it! The pilot/owner is professional, friendly, and great with kids!
