Sonoma Getaway With Kids

This was one of my favorite towns to visit as a child, and I could hardly wait to bring my kids. The Rose Garden smelled as sweet as I remembered and Train Town hasn't lost its charms. Sonoma makes a great day trip with kids if you find yourself in the Bay Area.

One of the highlights of this beautiful downtown plaza is the Rose Garden. The sun dial in the center is fascinating to children. There is also a great playground and plenty of picnic tables making it a great place to release those restless kids and feast on Sonoma cheese and wine.
Conveniently located near the Plaza, this is the go to cheese factory for tourists. It sells a variety of cheeses, wines and sandwiches making it a great place to shop for your Sonoma picnic. A little off of the beaten path is the Vella Cheese Factory. That's my families favorite place to find dry Sonoma Jack. I still dream of it!

This kid scale train adventure is worth the trip to Sonoma. The kids loved their stopover in the small scale town, creating some adorable photo ops. Then it was back on board the train. Later the kids enjoyed playing vintage video games in a full sized train car.
