Family Weekend in Sausalito

Sausalito is a fun little town-- great for a day trip or a weekend visit. There is plenty of shopping, and there's a great walking path along the water, with amazing views of the City and sailboats on the bay. You can also take a ferry into San Francisco if you choose. Weather can be changeable-- can be cool and foggy in the summer, so bring layers!

This large, rambling, hillside hotel boast gorgeous views, and is right on the main strip, so you can walk to dinner, shopping, the movies, the ferry, or anywhere in downtown Sausalito. It offers a variety of rooms from historic to contemporary, with options such as canopy beds, claw-foot tubs and private balconies.
This restaurant has been around for decades. My parents used to go here when it was The Trident in the '60s! Nice decor, wonderful views; eat outside if it's warm enough. Great for lunch or dinner. I always get the crab cake Benedict for brunch. And don't miss the Horizons' Fizz! Yum.

Fun rainy day activity. Working model of the entire Bay Area. Very interesting and educational.
This is a fun place to take younger kids. There are plenty of interactive activities (basically, they get to play and learn at the same time.) There are outdoor playgrounds too. It is big enough to spend a few hours, but not so big as to be overwhelming.
Excellent Chinese food in a comfortable, casual atmosphere. Located at the north end of Sausalito, near Highway 101. Be sure to try the spicy string bean chicken.
