Top 6 Things to do in San Mateo

San Mateo is often overlooked as a destination in lieu of it's proximity to San Francisco (30 minutes) but there is a lot to do and see in this metropolis that lies south of "the city". I just loved taking my nieces to Coyote Point Museum. You can easily spend a good afternoon there looking at the animals and exploring the interactive science exhibits. The Pez Museum was a hoot. But my favorite part of the day was visiting the Rosicrucian Museum. The building looks like a 1920's art deco version of the Temple of Amon at Karnak but the museum is filled with the real thing, including mummies!

This is an incredible little museum. The architecture of the museum was inspired by the Temple of Amon at Karnak. Yes, you will find real mummies here and lots of other treasures. In fact, this little museum houses the largest exhibit of Egyptian artifacts in western America.
The Coyote Point Museum has changed its name to CuriOdyssey and you can find out more at http://www.curiodyssey.org/ There are live animal exhibits (over 100) and interactive science exhibits for big kids and small. This is a fun way to spend an afternoon.
This is a quirky, cool place to visit, both for little kids and big kids (like me).
Remember getting Pez dispensers as a kid? This is a quirky, cool place to visit, both for little kids and big kids (like me). Check out both the vintage Pez exhibits as well as what's new in Pez dispenser technology.

Viognier is casual elegant so it's a good place to take the kids for some fine dining. They offer Butternut Squash Raviolis, Maine Lobster Risotto, Pan Seared Scallops, just to name a few mouth watering delights. The desserts are delectable too.
Mmmm, tasty thin crust, just the way I like it. Aldo's is San Mateo's best. Aldo's serves a variety of Pizza taste sensations, from traditional Italian to Greek, Portuguese, and Mexican. They also serve sandwiches and Calzones.
This is a fun way to spend an afternoon.

I am the Vice President of an international, non-profit conservation organization, Save the Turtles, Inc. My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science. My goal, with each writing assignment, is to match each clients individual needs by writing with an appropriate "voice" and level of readability for each unique, target audience.
