San Francisco Family Favorites

Whether you come for the weekend, or a whole week, San Francisco has many wonderful family attractions. Visit world class museums, hang out together a city park, and enjoy local culinary specialties. Here my family's favorite spots in the City.

Exploratorium
The top science museum in San Francisco, the Exploratorium is where my kids get the chance to have hands on experiences in a great family-friendly environment. And when you are done inside, head out to the Palace of Fine Arts for a picnic lunch on the grass.

California Academy of Sciences
Something for everyone in this amazingly updated experience in Golden Gate Park. Don't miss the roof-top garden and the Planaterium. For a unique dining experience, give the Moss Room a try. Get there early for easy parking, and pre-buy tickets on line to save time.
Located on Embarcadero, down the way from Pier 39, the San Francisco tourist mecca.

Yank Sing at Rincon
Dim Sum at Yank Sing is a Sunday tradition for many Bay Area families. Join in the fun and try pot-stickers, soup dumplings, steamed pork buns and egg custard tarts.

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
South of Market, near San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Moscone Convention Center, is the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, with loads of fun activities for the kids. Hotel Del Sol
Located in the Marina District, this family-friendly hotel offers wonderful amenities for all guests - complimentary breakfast, complimentary car service to downtown San Francisco, and a heated pool. That last one is my kids' favorite!
