One Day of Exploration in Sacramento's K Street District

Downtown Sacramento's K Street runs from the Sacramento Convention Center on one end to Old Sacramento on the other. In between you'll find restaurants, shopping, attractions, hotels and more. Take the kids or take the whole family, but wear your walking shoes or take a trolly. You'll be covering a lot of ground if you hope to see, hear, do and taste all that this lively part of town has to offer.

Fairly new on the scene, Sacramento's Embassy Suites dazzles on the waterfront in Old Sacramento State Historic Park.

California State Capitol Building

First of all, it's free. Secondly, it's awe-inspiring. Thirdly, it's a sure-fire family charmer! California's State Capitol has so much to see and do that a day won't cut it, but it'll sure whet youre appetite for more. A museum in its own right, the CA State Capitol is also a working legislative and senatorial entity. Educational and entertaining from the inside out, the walls surely do talk here! Don't miss the gardens and war memorials, and don't worry - If you get hungry, there's a cafe on the basement floor.

Westfield Downtown Plaza

If you're continuing down K Street and want to do some serious shopping, you'll pass through Downtown Sacramento's Westfield Plaza before being plunged into historic Old Sacramento. An open-air mall with two floors, contemporary stores, a food court and a kids' play area, you could spend half the day here. Just keep in mind the Macy's is split in two: The women's store is on the west end while the men's is on the east.
