Enjoy a Girls' Night Out or Weekend Getaway in Sacramento

Sometimes the girls and I like to get dressed up and do a little dance. Sometimes the hubby and I like to do the same. And if there's dancing, there's going to be eating. And if there's drinking, there's going to be a hotel stay. But that just makes the experience more complete. Taking the time to really immerse in Sacramento's Midtown culture and Downtown happenings is an affordable, memorable way to enjoy a night out or weekend getaway. Mixing business with pleasure? I highly recommend that too. Sacramento gets the pairing down right.

The Mix is a nightclub designed for the slightly more mature crowd, but it is by no means a sleepy joint. A dimly-lit club with modern decor, an open-air patio and plenty of nooks and crannies, the Mix is a great reason to get dolled up and shake your groove thing with your girlfriends or significant other. They serve food too, and the music is designed less for 18 and over and more for 30 and over. Note that if you go early enough, you can get in for free. Special treatment is given to those 40 and over (and no, I don't mean walkers and air tanks).

There is no place quite like the Shady Lady for classy ladies looking for something a little different. If you appreciate ambiance and delight in drinks from the old world, this is a worthy stop. The food is great, the decor will really take you back in time, and the live music at night rounds out the escape. From champagne cocktails to old-fashioned high balls, you'll really get a taste for they way they used to make them.
If you like quality second-hand stores (antique or vintage shops) and you have a little time, definitely stop here.

A great location and clean, quiet rooms make the Sheraton Grand Sacramento a perfect fit for a Girls' Night Out. Did I mention the large bathrooms? You can often find great deals for this hotel online, it's decorated nicely, and parking is not far away. Also, they have big-screen TVs and you can get a room with a great view. Complete with restaurant, lobby bar and pool, it's a great place for quick (or long) getaway in the heart of Sacramento.

Now, not all thrift stores are this pleasant and not all thrift stores can make you feel good about your purchase, but the Sacramento SPCA Thrift Shop has come a long way. Situated in Midtown, it's poised to get all the good second-hand stuff from the hip residents who live in the area. If you like quality second-hand stores (antique or vintage shops) and you have a little time, definitely stop here. The all-volunteer staff is friendly, the place is neat, organized and full of indulgent little treasures, and hey, all the proceeds go to helping animals in need! All shopping should feel this good.
