The only bad thing about Oakland is that there's so much you won't be able to do in a short visit there. It's a beautiful culturally diverse city with great restaurants and shopping. Yoshi's is the place for some good sushi and live music. I'm also a fan of their generous portions of sweet potato fries. It's an intimate setting sure to delight all ages. Their staff is also very helpful and friendly.

The Washington Inn is not only affordable, it's one of Oakland's historical landmarks. It's clean and comfortable and its well situated in the city. I say check it out!

Asmara Restaurant
Want something different with good prices? Asmara is a great gem of an Ethiopian restaurant. The chick peas and the lamb are excellent. And finally you get to eat with your hands and its socially acceptable. Also, if they say spicy they're not kidding around.
