A Local's Look at Nevada City

Nevada City is a charming little Western-style town in the heart of California's Gold Country. There is much California history in this area, and there is gorgeous natural scenery, so it's a great place to enjoy the outdoors year-round. You can shop and eat in the cute town of Nevada City or neighboring Grass Valley, and then get out and enjoy nature in the surrounding areas.

The Emma Nevada House is an elegantly restored bed and breakfast located in a quiet residential area, within walking distance of downtown Nevada City. It is rich in history, and the owners are friendly and knowledgeable. Guests enjoys an outstanding breakfast in a casual and comfortable setting.
Cirino's Italian Restaurant is a great place for authentic Italian cuisine. Jerry Cirino has brought a lot of recipes from his grandmother. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere with consistently tasty food, at reasonable prices. The Bloody Marys come highly recommended.

The New Moon Cage is one of the more popular restaurants in town, favored by tourists and locals alike. It has an excellent atmosphere, in an old restored home, with pretty lighting. Best for dinner, with wholesome, fresh and natural ingredients.
An excellent place for breakfast and lunch. Too bad they don't serve dinner! The food is delicious, coming from fresh, mostly organic, local produce. Outside seating is available on the covered patio.

When you think of wine-tasting, you may think of Napa or Sonoma County, but wine-tasting is becoming more popular in the Sierra Foothills. The Indian Springs Tasting Room is right in the heart of downtown Nevada City. Free wine-tasting.

The Bridgeport Covered Bridge goes over the beautiful Yuba River. This area is absolutely breathtaking. In cold weather, it is a pretty place to check out the roaring river. In warm weather, you can swim in awesome swimming holes, hike along the river, or go boulder climbing. Bridgeport is the place to go!  More
