Milpitas Weekend with the Kids

I was a happy camper on my trip to Milpitas. First of all, I took my nieces and my dog Biff so, as you can see, this was a family affair. The kids and I always love, love, love, the Winchester House and the Rosaecrusian Egyptian Museum and as usual, both experiences were great--no surprise there. The real kicker was just how much I liked Sheraton San Jose Hotel. I don't usually even like chain hotels, but this one has amazing tropical landscaping. Oh yeah, everything about the inside was good too, but I just couldn't get past the natural looking foliage, the waterfalls, and the tranquil ponds near the huge pool. On top of that, there were free appetizers (happy hour on weekdays) in the poolside lounge. But the best part was that this hotel allows dogs. I'm just not happy when I have to leave my Biffer's in a kennel.

If you are looking for some exceptionally good food then this place is for you. Filipino families seem to think so too (if their frequent presence at Barrio Fiesta is any indication). The atmosphere is lively and tropical and I my nieces had a blast here too.
You could get lost forever in this quirky Victorian house. Secret passageways, stairways that go on and on, one can only wonder at the twisted and eccentric mind behind this spooky monolithic maze. Keep up with the tour group or you may disappear "forever". Boo!

This is an incredible little Egyptian museum (and planetarium). The architecture was inspired by the Temple of Amon at Karnak. Yes, you will find real mummies here and lots of other treasures. In fact, this museum houses the largest exhibit of Egyptian artifacts in Western America.
This park has a 2 playgrounds for kids, one for younger kids, one for older. There are hiking trails that permit hiking, biking and horseback riding but there are also some trails for hiking only-which is nice when you are walking with kids. There are nice running streams and springs to hike along.
Inn-N-Out is probably the best of the big burger chains (hey, the meat actually tastes like meat here) and it is a good place to go with a gaggle of finicky kids. This place is clean, efficient, economical and mui popular! Good old American drive-through hamburgers and fresh hot (yes, I said hot) fries.

I am the Vice President of an international, non-profit conservation organization, Save the Turtles, Inc. My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science. My goal, with each writing assignment, is to match each clients individual needs by writing with an appropriate "voice" and level of readability for each unique, target audience.
