Romanic Getaway in Mill Valley

Mill Valley is a fun, eclectic town, with plenty to do and see. Located at the base of Mount Tamalpais, just North of San Francisco, there are numerous hiking trails up Mt. Tam, and it's just a short drive out to the beach and Muir Woods. Downtown Mill Valley is filled with a variety of great restaurants and fun shops.

This is a truly unique experience. The hotel is perched on the side of Mount Tamalpais, with stunning views of the whole Bay Area. We stayed here on our wedding night, and it is definitely romantic. All of the rooms have views, and many have canopy beds and jacuzzi tubs. There is an elegant restaurant downstairs, serving breakfast, which is included in the night's stay, as well as lunch and dinner. There is also a lovely outdoor deck.
A Mill Valley favorite for decades, serving delicious, classic Italian food in a small, family run restaurant in downtown Mill Valley. The same woman has been behind the counter when you walk in the door for as long as I can remember. Save room for dessert!
They serve excellent fresh sushi and have an extensive sake list.
Despite the odd location, just off the freeway in Mill Valley, this restaurant has a nice ambiance. They serve excellent fresh sushi and have an extensive sake list. You can sit at the long sushi bar, or one of the many private tables.
Thep Lela is located in the back of Strawberry Village, across the freeway from downtown Mill Valley. The food is delicious, authentic Thai food. Be sure to try the Tom Ka soup, and the fried banana with coconut ice cream for dessert, which comes in the shape of a snowman.
We went out here on a recent warm winter weekend, and the place was packed. The hike is reasonable for kids-- about 4-5 miles roundtrip. My kids are not fond of hiking, but they had a great time playing on the beach. On less crowded days, I have seen all kinds of wildlife out here: bobcat, coyote, rabbit, deer, and assorted birds.

This is a fun place to go right in downtown Mill Valley. You can head over to the Theatre after a nice dinner at La Ginestra across the street. There is comedy every Tuesday night, and on other nights there is music, or sometimes film screenings, readings or youth performances. It's a very small venue, so every seat is a good one. A fine way to spend an evening. More
