Top 6 Things to do in Madera

Madera is a good place to check in and unwind after the hustle and bustle of Yosemite. The Madera Inn provides the all the quiet and amenities that you will need for a brain chill. While you are chilling you just might want to do a few things in the area, like visit one or two of the great restaurants, maybe stop by the Ficklin Vineyards to taste some port, or if it's really hot, consider taking the kids out for a dunking in the Wild Water Adventures Park in Clovis.

Ficklin Vineyards specializes in port wines. I am not a big port drinker but I do occasionally enjoy a glass after dinner. Although, I'm no expert on port, I thought these wines were very tasty and I really enjoyed the whole experience.

This water park is the real deal. The largest in Central California, you can find just about anything to do here including, of course, water play. You can barbecue your own food in shaded picnic area. You can even fish in the lakes!
This 1.3 million acre forest is really a spectacular place to visit or camp.

This is great Italian food right in the middle of Madera. DI Dicco's has wonderful food, huge portions and a lively atmosphere. Go to DI Dicco's during their accordion festival for a super dose of fine food and family fun!
It is really worth the 30 minute drive to Fresno for this restaurant. They serve incredible gourmet dishes like Fillet Mignon Wrapped in Applewood Bacon and appetizers like Argentine Prawns with Orange-Tarragon Glaze. Need I say any more? Entrees are $30 or under.

I am the Vice President of an international, non-profit conservation organization, Save the Turtles, Inc. My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science. My goal, with each writing assignment, is to match each clients individual needs by writing with an appropriate "voice" and level of readability for each unique, target audience.
