Jamestown Top 6 Things to Do

Hand-jamestown-hotel

Considering its petite size, this historic town is just brimming with lovely, antique hotels and great restaurants. Only 3 or so hours from San Francisco, a stay in Jamestown will provide easy access to many interesting sites and activities in the California Gold Rush Country. Go panning for gold and get a taste of the original 49er fever (and I don't mean football). Visit the old jail house where actual hangings used to take place. Visit the renowned Antique Emporium and continue on, antiquing your way through the many shops in town. After a day of fun have a drink in a historic saloon and dinner in one of the fine restaurants.

One of the most expensive hotels in the area but well worth the experience. One of the six oldest hotels in California, the Jamestown absolutely reeks with atmosphere. No TVs or Internet here; you stay at the Jamestown to get away from all of that and step back into another century.

Walk scenic Jamestown and you will see the historic jail, the old railroad depot and many buildings from the gold rush days. While strolling, check out the many fine antique stores along the way. Be certain to visit Emporium Antiques which fittingly resides in the historic Emporium building.
Pizza Plus serves Pizza's and subs. Many dishes are under $10. Meat lovers, this sizable, delicious pizza (with yummy crust) is available in a triple meat combo. Vegetarians might find it a bit wanting for unique vegetable options but this pizza is excellent and reasonably priced.

I am the Vice President of an international, non-profit conservation organization, Save the Turtles, Inc. My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science. My goal, with each writing assignment, is to match each clients individual needs by writing with an appropriate "voice" and level of readability for each unique, target audience.
