Guerneville Weekend with the Kids

The Russian River Guerneville area, originally a 1930's vacation resort, is a great place to take kids--and Fido too! Lovely in spring, lazy and dreamy in the summer, you and yours can swim in the river's shallow currents or float in a tube on a hot day. After a swim, barbecue some hamburgers on the beach. Just 70 miles from San Francisco, this is a no stress getaway. Rent a lovely river cabin or stay at a pet friendly spa--it's all good.

Rent a charming cottage that welcomes kids and dogs too. Russian River Getaways offer quaint, cozy woodland cabins and charming larger cottages, some right on the river.
Asian-style decor and spa treatments pamper mom and dad after a day of family fun. Afterwards, relax with a glass of wine while the kids swim in the pool. Book ahead and reserve a pet-friendly room so your furry family member can have a vacation too.
Dogs are prohibited here due to the many seals that come to lounge on the shore.Visit one of Sonoma's lovely ocean beaches about 20 minutes away.
The Pee Wee Golf Arcade, with its dinosaurs and giant golf-ball eating creatures, is a good place to take the kids for an afternoon of goofy golfing and fun in Guerneville.
Take the kids and Fido on an adventurous excursion down the Russian River. Life jackets for everyone, dogs too!
Most of Sonoma Coast beaches allow dogs provided they are leashed. Take your pick of the many lovely--and free--beaches between the towns of Bodega and Jenner, which lies on the mouth of the Russian River.

I am the Vice President of an international, non-profit conservation organization, Save the Turtles, Inc. My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science. My goal, with each writing assignment, is to match each clients individual needs by writing with an appropriate "voice" and level of readability for each unique, target audience. Please feel free to scroll and read!
