One Day in Fairfield

Recently, I found out that there are actually a couple of cool things to do in Fairfield, especially if you have kids. I was taking my niece Billie, to Six Flags when we pulled off the freeway looking for someplace to eat. We ended up eating at at Monsoon Burgers--which was excellent--and Billie even ate the whole thing. Next we stopped at the Jelly Belly Factory for a tour and Billie got her photo's taken with Mr. Jelly Belly man, which she thought was way cool. We ended up staying the night in the Courtyard Fairfield. The next day we went to Six Flags and of course Billie loved it; kids and theme parks, that's a no-brainer. Finally, I treated myself to the McCune Rare Book Museum and was surprised that Billie actually enjoyed it too!

What can I say, I always tend to prefer a place with character, like an old hotel or a bed and breakfast but alas, they aren't always available. This hotel is clean, has comfortable beds and reasonably priced for one of the big old chain hotels. A tip: avoid rooms right next to the elevators. I hear that it's kind of noisy.
I think I gained 5 pounds just looking at these scrumptious burgers. These are the best burgers in Fairfield (and beyond). I'll take a flame-broiled burger over a pan burger any day. The Bacon Blue Cheese Burger was over the top. My niece had a hot dog and said it was the best she ever tasted.
There are plenty of rides and sea mammal performances and other animals to delight the kids for at least couple of days.
This is an excellent sushi and terriaki restaurant. The ambiance is peaceful and calming. The service is prompt and polite. It is perhaps, a bit expensive but for the overall experience, I'd say it's worth it.
Personally, I'm not a big jelly belly eater but my niece is and she just loved the tour we took of the factory. She loved getting her picture taken with Mr. Jelly Belly (OK, that cost me $20, but I'm a sucker when it comes to making the kid happy) . Tours run every hour and are free!

You can spend a whole afternoon at the McCune. See the tour-de-force in publishing by master printer William Morris, a set of fantastic woodcut illustrations (1896) accompanying the works of Geoffry (Kelmscott) Chaucer. Then for something really old, lay your eyes on a leaf from the Gutenberg Bible, the first typeset book in Europe (1450-1455). More

My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science.
