One Day in Elk Grove, CA

Elk Grove is an easily traveled suburb of Sacramento - once a little western town from the 1800's, it has seen great expansion in recent years. Big wide thoroughfares, flat lands, big sky, lots of free parking. It's mostly a land of chain stores and restaurants, but there are unexpected delights to find here, if you know where to look. I visit often because I have family there, and I can find something new every time.

You're going to be poking around the town on this day, so don't waste your time in a hotel that will distract you with it's uniqueness. Just get yourself a nondescript hotel room that doesn't invite you to stay long, like the Fairfield Inn. Cheap rates, clean and comfortable.

Although this store is located in a larger shopping center, it is a unique business that makes quality homemade candy, perfect for bringing souvenirs back to those at home who have a sweet tooth!
