OUR TAKE ON CALEXICO
Calexico is a small city in southern California bordering Mexico, known as “the town where California and Mexico meet”. The name is a linguistic blend of California and Mexico noting its proximity to both states.
Perennial warm temperatures and summer-like weather make this an attractive place to visit any time of year. Calexico is 120 miles east of San Diego and 70 miles west of Yuma, Arizona, making it a conveniently located destination. Its proximity to Mexico makes Calexico rich in Mexican culture, and delightful place to get a flavor of Mexico without crossing the border! Festive authentic Mexican restaurants are plentiful, along with American cuisine and other international culinary delights.
Calexico has a plentiful variety of outdoor parks, which make it a pleasure to explore. The juxtaposition of lush green parks against a desert background lends a dramatic feeling to this lovely town. It is perfect for romantic walks and picnics with your special someone or for a family getaway. Whether you are just passing Calexico, or making it your destination, you are certain to have a wonderful time! Check out www.calexico.ca.gov for more information.
