Brawley is a small city in the southernmost county in California, the Imperial County. This is an agricultural city with a significant cattle and feed industry. You don’t think of Southern California as cowboy country, but this city certainly is, and hosts the annual Cattle Call Rodeo. If you’ve never been to a Rodeo, it’s worth a trip to Brawley to take this one in. Cowboys and cowgirls stroll the streets between sets of their competitions, and it’s quite a cultural experience if you’ve never had the chance to see a rodeo.

Brawley also has a strong baseball history. It hosts a minor league baseball park, and although it has not hosted a team for awhile, Rudy Seánez who is a relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers hails from Brawley.  

Summer daytime temperatures often exceed 115 degrees, so nocturnal activities are highly prized. Restaurants, cafes, taverns and bars are all well populated in the evenings with the friendly residents of Brawley. Live music emanates from the cafes and bars on most nights of the week.
