Located  in the Anderson Valley in Mendocino County, 115 miles north of San Francisco, Boonville is most famous for the unusual creation of the Boontling Folk Language. "Codgy kimmies" (old men) will tell you that "moshe" means machine, "zeese" means coffee and "belhoon" is another word for dollar. But don’t get too attached to this language – Boonville is the only place you’ll be able to use it!

Boonville hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year, the culmination of which is the Mendocino County Fair in September. A World Music festival is held every year, as well as several wine and beer festivals. There is an Alsatian Varietals wine festival each February, and a Pinot Noir Festival each May. The legendary Boonville Beer Festival is held every spring and features beer from about 50 of the local craft breweries. If you are a devoted beer connoisseur, this is a festival you won’t want to miss.

The Anderson Valley Historical Society Museum is in town for a deeper exploration of the regions history, and several national parks and hiking trails surround the area for a variety of activities. The novel Boonville by Robert Mailer Anderson (published in 2001) was set in this town, and would be a perfect read while you relax in this quaint town.
