Berkeley Vacations, Tourism & Travel Information

OUR TAKE ON BERKELEY

Home to one of the oldest universities in the nations, Berkeley, California is a vibrant and interesting tourist destination.  Most Americans continue to associate Berkeley with the hippie movement of the 1960’s; however, Berkeley’s mild Mediterranean climate, scenic setting in the hills surrounding San Francisco Bay complement excellent public transportation and an extensive list of things-to-do.   The Berkeley Convention & Visitors Bureau’s website is a great resource when planning your vacation.  Lodging ranges from budget-friendly Piedmont House (Hostel) in the center of the bustling university district to upscale digs at The Rose Garden Inn.

We enjoyed the quaint Beau Sky Hotel.  Centrally located, we appreciated the attentive staff and home-made breakfast pastries.  The hotel maintains a relationship with nearby University of California, so we were offered free access to their recreational sports facilities:  Olympic sized pools; handball, racquetball, and squash courts; sports lessons; and exercise gyms.  The Beau Sky Hotel deserves high ratings received from Travel Guides.

For family and kid-friendly vacationers, we highly recommend a visit to the Habitot Children’s Discovery Center.  Aimed at younger children, the Discovery Center offers hands-on, educational, fun things-to-do—different activities offered daily.  Stretching from floor to ceiling, the “Wiggle Wall” is especially popular. Kids get a “worms-eye view” of the world, with parents standing by.

The Berkeley travel guide gives you you have all the information you need to plan your trip. It includes user reviews, maps, travel tips, and a list of Berkeley Hotels.
