Benicia, California

Benicia, California Hotels, Things to do, and Vacation Information.

Benicia is a scenic, waterside community, just inland from San Francisco.  Benicia was the first Californian City founded by Anglo-Americans, and it served as the third state capital.  Be sure to visit the Benicia Historic Capitol Building during your stay—it’s the only standing pre-Sacramento Capitol.  Another educational, kid-friendly site is the Benicia Historical Museum, where they’ll be fascinated with the dynamic Mizners, one of Benicia’s earliest and unusual pioneer families.

The City of Benicia is prosperous enough to support a wealth of recreational facilities, including a city marina, parks, pools, and sports facilities.  Be sure to visit the Benicia Chamber of Commerce for all-inclusive links and directions.  We were impressed with the Benicia State Recreation Facility, which includes 730 acres of marshland, rocky beaches, and grassy hills.  Benicia SP Activities include biking, horseback riding, cycling, hiking, running, birdwatching, and picnicking.  There’s even exercise equipment along the trails for added fitness training!

During your Benicia CA vacation, we recommend a romantic getaway at the Union Hotel, located in the historic section of the city, convenient to shopping, theaters, and nightlife.  You’ll be impressed with the Coast Lotus Suite, tastefully decorated in lighter shades of blue.  If you’re celebrating a special anniversary or other occasion, the large Jacuzzi tub and special gift basket are a must!
