Top 6 Things to do in Ben Lomond

My car broke down in lovely Ben Lomond last year. Yikes! Operating on the philosophy of making lemonade from lemons, I decided that--instead of whining--I would rent a car while mine was being fixed and do some tourist stuff. I stayed in the Fairview Manor B & B and found the inn absolutely delightful. I visited Big Basin State Park because I love hiking the trails to the falls. I even took a day and went back the Winchester House and found it to be every bit as amazing and spooky as I did before. Because I'm a wild-west history buff, I visited the Santa Cruz Mission for the first time. Fascinating. My little "disaster" turned into a very cool trip.

To camp here you need to make reservations in advance. Call Reserve America at 800-444-PARK (7275). You can choose one the the Park's large family tent structures ($65 per day),regular campsites, or RV hookup site. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring and food storage box.
The California Missions provide a unique look back to the time of Spanish Colonialism in the west. Each mission has a story. Some have been destroyed and rebuilt. This one was destroyed once by floods and again by the Quirosto tribe of Indians who were rebelling against forced relocation and brutal treatment at the hands of the Padres.
The Fairview Manor is a lovely Bed and Breakfast in Ben Lomond.
You could get lost forever in this quirky Victorian house. Secret passageways, stairways that go on and on, one can only wonder at the twisted and eccentric mind behind this spooky, monolithic maze. Keep up with the tour group or you may disappear "forever". Boo!
This is great Chinese food right in the little town of Boulder Creek. Nothing super unusual here: Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Pork, the usual deep fried options and vegetable dishes, but they are nicely prepared and delicious.
Note: The image above is of the rustic stable on the property--not the inn itself. The Fairview Manor is a lovely Bed and Breakfast in Ben Lomond. This rustic inn has lovely rooms, beautiful grounds and a great breakfast. This inn has a very friendly and homey ambiance made possible by hosts Jack and Gael.

This great Tyrolean restaurant has a rustic alpine appeal. Sit outside on a warm evening and drink a large mug of beer. This is a charming place with great German cooking and entrees under $18. Walking distance from the Fairview Manor. More

I am the Vice President of an international, non-profit conservation organization, Save the Turtles, Inc. My eight years as a hands-on VP has provided me with plenty of experience writing web content, proposals, ad copy, brochures, fliers, promotional material, letters of inquiry (the list could go on and on.) Writing for Save the Turtle's website has provided me with great exposure to the concepts and practices of SEO. It seems that we have done rather well as our Google ranking is most often number one on the page. Although, I am still on the board of Save the Turtles and every bit as passionate about saving endangered species as ever, I am currently also enjoying another incarnation as a freelance writer. I love, love, love writing travel blogs! Lately, I have been writing for Uptake.com. and Mynatour, an eco-travel site based in London. I have also written an number of articles for other sites covering such wide-ranging topics as health, food, real estate, and science. My goal, with each writing assignment, is to match each clients individual needs by writing with an appropriate "voice" and level of readability for each unique, target audience.
