To impress my better half, I'm getting a beach front suite with a king size bed. These are large, two-room suites...at least 550 square feet. The only thing between you and the beach is the pool. The bars and restaurants of town are literally just steps away. There's a spa and fitness center onsite. I can think of no better place to unwind and reconnect. Suites range from $150 - $300.

Avila Beach Golf Resort

Golfers? Here's a great course, situated around the river that flows out to the ocean here in Avila Beach. The lagoon provides some challenging water with amazing views of the ocean and interior hills as you make your way up the canyon. Weekend green fees are $75...$12 extra for a cart.

Avila Grocery & Deli

Cute little market along the waterfront for all your snack and gourmet needs. Grab a bottle of wine or some beer for later; and some cheese, bread, and other snacks to get you through the day. Make a picnic and go wine tasting.
