OUR TAKE ON ARNOLD
Arnold California is a tiny community just outside Yosemite National Park, yet offers a great destination for California vacations, travel, and lodging. We were surprised to discover a well-equipped luxury resort, the Black Bear Inn, one 1.3 acres nestled within beautiful Sequoia cypresses. While perfect for romantic couples or wedding vacations, with an attentive staff and great breakfasts, families with children over 10 years old are limited to ski season only.
For a family vacation in a kid-friendly, pet-friendly setting, try Calaveras Big Trees State Park (SP) instead! The South Grove encloses about 1000 mature sequoia, and the North Gove holds 100, with 6500 acres available for camping, hiking, picnicking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and bird-watching. Kids love the junior ranger program, evening ranger-talks, and environmental education programs. Explore hundreds of miles of established trails during your Arnold, California vacation and the stunning Sierra Redwoods, featured attractions on California Travel Guides, have entranced generations of tourists.
Another 1,200 square miles of parkland at Yosemite National Park draws Arnold, California visitors looking for things-to-do. Yosemite is one of the first and best established wilderness areas in America, with waterfalls, deep valleys, those picturesque sequoias and grand meadows stretching across its breadth. Romantic Couples love the solitude, kids and families enjoy the budget-friendly adventure, and everyone remembers their first visit to Arnold, California, when Yosemite is included.
