OUR TAKE ON ANTIOCH
Antioch is one of California’s oldest towns, founded in 1850 during the gold rush. The City of Antioch is highly rated by travel guides for family vacations, home to 310 recreational acres enclosed within 31 different parks. Antioch California is a family-friendly, pet-friendly destination for your vacation.
Contra Loma Park offers a lovely swimming lagoon, beach, concession stand, and restrooms. Other Activities include fishing and boating. The picnic area is accessible for disabled patrons, and there’s a fine hiking trail to the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. Black Diamond encloses 6,286 acres of parkland, perfect for hiking, picnicking and nature study. Stop by the Greathouse Visitor Center, located in an underground chamber! Kids of all ages enjoy the Hazel-Atlas Mine Tour, recently expanded to include a guided 800 foot walk into the mining shaft, descending 400 feet below the surface. Camping and a back-packers camp are available for the general public.
For romantic couples, we recommend driving north to Napa for a stay at the incredible Hennessy House Bed and Breakfast Inn. Their gourmet breakfast selections in the morning keep you filled until afternoon tea. The rooms are luxurious, and the house is filled with beautiful Belgian and English antique furniture. The owners offer a charming array of wine and chocolate selections for added enjoyment.
