One of the key assets in Kathy Griffin’s closet – other than her acerbic wit – is the way she turns everything in her life into a part of her act.

This versatality extends to her Hollywood career, which she turned into an emmy worthy reality show – My Life on the D-List, now about to kick off season 6 on Bravo.

She writes a book named Official Book Club Selection which is selling copies because it’s dishy and fun, but also because she’s got a petition going to collect 50,000 signatures to convince Oprah to pick the book.

The whole thing is a satire which rips into authors who kiss up to Queen Oprah and bend over in order to get an entrée into Oprah’s book club and couch.

Griffin puts out a holiday CD named Suckin’ it for the Holidays which has plenty of ‘Griffin Spirit’ and shock value inside, where she takes on everyone on her radar – from her mother to Justin Timberlake and The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

It’s all a part of her life, and it gets hard to separate the real and showbiz versions of Kathy Griffin. Griffin’s hunger for tackling new situations and piping everything back into her act apparently extends to her vacations too.

Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta – For an episode of her reality show, she ended up with her team in Mismaloya, ostensibly to start the Kathy Griffin Leadership Academy. That was to poke Oprah for the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy School For Girls in South Africa.

Puerto Vallarta is one of Kathy Griffin’s favorite D-list spots, and Griffin says she’s the type who likes to veg out and do nothing on vacation, and ends up staring at the water like a crazy person. True to her word, she falls asleep in the sun and gets roasted.

So she comes on without make-up, using her sunburned face to make jokes at herself – “It’s like that joke: ‘Does your face hurt? Well, it’s killing me.’”

Bora Bora

Bora Bora – Last year, Griffin was invited to spend some time in Tahiti with some 50 odd fans by VIP Escapes for an ’Escape With The Stars.’

She ended up enjoying a week at the Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa, coupled with a retreat at the St. Regis.

Not only did she do her standup routine but the whole trip also ended up as another episode of My Life On The D-List.

Times Square

New York – Who doesn’t want to be in Times Square for the New Year’s eve countdown, to see the ball drop, and enjoy the whole of New York lit up like a Christmas tree.

Kathy Griffin brings her own special talents to this galactic event - with an enviable gig as co-host with Anderson Cooper on CNN.

And she does it in style. Last year, her fans got to see her schtick without having to buy Kathy Griffin tickets, when she heckled back at a heckler and let it rip. She’s going to be there again this year, and you can bet your boots no one is going to be doing any heckling.

London

Kathy Griffin also has expressed a liking for the Turks & Caicos Islands, Palm Springs and London. In Palm Springs, she was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame, and during the London holiday she was dating British actor Chucky Venice. Both trips ended up as episodes on D-List.

During the London trip, Griffin took a nasty spill getting out of a car. For other celebs, that would have been an endless source of tabloid embarrasment. For Kathy Griffin and her fans, it just makes life on the D-list more interesting.
