Yes folks, people still do this. Toady we hear from freelance travel writer and Uptake blogger, Zach Everson (link), who spent three months backpacking his way around Europe. Above you see Zach standing in cold water in Olympos, Turkey. Why he’s smiling is anyone’s guess.
Zach explains that there are obvious things to watch out for, but that it’s safe and cost effective. There are so many young people doing this, it really is quite normal.

[...] backpacking around Europe [...]
I know why he’s smiling. Probably because everyone smiles for pictures! On a more serious note, Turkey is a beautiful country and a great place to stop while backpacking Europe.
That is not a laughter smile, this is a I am living, but this is cold, smile!. Travel would not be an experience to remember without those moments. In fact in my travels it is the challenges that we recall with fond memories. I have many stories of getting lost, being found, but being lost again, loosing everytings, missing planes and gee it was above all fun.
I think when you are traveling, a smile is one of, look at me , I am on an adventure. Now if this were to occur in your home town, I bet there would be a different story line and attitude. I do adore these bloggs and look forward to many more adventure stories with the fun of travel never far from my mind.
I just returned from Belgium and saw a couple of backpackers that were walking the side of the highway. I was wonder if people get angry in Europe or if they are kind?
Also, the link to more information sends you to a page that is no longer available! Please update because I would definitely like to learn/see more.
