Christmas may be over, but that doesn’t mean the holidays are! New Year’s Eve is right around the corner and there is lots of fun to be had (please drink responsibly).
While New Orleans would be awesome, it may not be quite as family-friendly as New Orleans Square in Disneyland. Sure, both have beads and Dixie, but one has less public nudity (Disneyland). So there’s that. (And you can buy drinks at Disney’s California Adventure or Downtown Disney)
However you spend New Year’s Eve, make it safe for everyone. Don’t drink and drive!

I’ve never been to Cuba, but I’d love to go. A couple of years ago I had a beer with Orbitz president Barney Harford and the day’s conversation had included talk about his company’s efforts to open travel to Cuba. It hasn’t happened yet, but I’m still pulling for the cause.
Havana used to be a hotspot for Americans, and I’m sure Cuba could use the dollars just as much as we could use a vacation. Probably more so.
This post is part of the UpTake Public Art Series. If you see an interesting piece of public art, snap a picture and send it in. We’ll feature it on UpTake!

It’s the holiday season, why not spend your Christmas vacation doing a little window shopping. You don’t have to buy presents, you can just look. Holiday window decorations are the best of the year, and they’re free for your gazing pleasure. Saving money is my favorite.
This Christmas window is in New York City at the New Museum. It appears that alien kids love the holidays as much as the rest of us. Who knew? Stop in on your New York City holiday vacation!
The New Museum is located at:
235 Bowery
New York, NY 10002
212.219.1222
It’s just one of the many great museums in NYC. Also, one of the great holiday windows! Two birds, people. Two birds.
Please note that the New Museum in New York has special holiday hours that can be found on their website.
This month we are featuring Holiday Window Decorations! Normally on Tuesdays we run the UpTake Tuesday Roadside Attractions Series. If you have a photo of an odd, funny or interesting roadside attraction that you would like to see featured here please submit it via the link in the sidebar with subject line: Roadside.

When you think of Disneyland you probably think of magic. That’s because they have a great PR team. Also, magic. Christmas brings to mind similar thoughts, but with more sugarplums. See where I’m going here?
The holidays at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA are as magical as you could possibly hope for. Whether it’s meeting Santa in person, seeing your favorite Disney characters dressed in their holiday best, or catching the festive parade, fireworks and other events, there is Disney-wrapped Christmas fun throughout the resort (that includes Disneyland, the Disney hotels, Downtown Disney and Disney’s California Adventure).
But that’s not all! Read More »
