Rotterdam, Netherlands actually started as a dam on the Rotte river, which makes its name one of the most literal on the map. It has the busiest port in Europe (second in the world behind Shanghai). It also has a lot of great museums, including the World Museum (above).
The World, aka Wereld Museum has a wonderful collection of art from all over the world. Also, a wine bar. Sail over for a visit.

This piece of public art is called “Liberation” and was created by Brandon Roth as part of the Urban Trees 7 Collection. And now for some (more) clues:
This city (and the surrounding area) is home to tons of wildlife. Literally. They have all kinds of animals.
The surfing is great and there are kayaks for everyone.
Where else will you find a restaurant owned by Jim Croce’s widow?
If you said “San Diego” then congratulations on being the smartest person alive. And I mean that.
San Diego may very well be the best city in America. No, I don’t live there. The weather in San Diego is perfect and the people are friendly. There is a lot to do and the local sports teams are just good enough that your favorite team will come play them.
Did I mention the weather?

The W is for woof.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to stay at the W Hotel in beautiful San Diego. My mixed feelings on that will come out in a later post. Hey, that’s like suspense!
On the corner outside of the hotel’s main entrance you will find this water station for your canine companion, which is a nice touch. Downtown San Diego is great for walking, which means yours dogs bark and your dogs get thirsty.
Seeing as right inside the lobby the price of water jumps up about $6 per bottle, you may want to sneak a sip or two for yourself. It’s a recession, people.
