A Guide to Group Camping

View of group site at Pt. Mugu

I have a friend who once said to me “I love camping!  Particularly when it’s in a 5-star hotel.”  If you think that’s your idea of camping, but you wish you were the camping type, then a great way to get your feet wet, so to speak, is to join a large group of people for your initial “roughing it” experience.  Car camping preferred.

Whether you’re a veteran or a novice, camping with a large group can be invigorating and comforting too.  There is safety in numbers, after all, as well as lots of people who might be able to lend you a corkscrew since you left yours behind and you have a bottle of wine you’ve dragged up into the wilderness and you’d hate to have to smash the bottleneck to get the thing open.

Man Vs. Turtle

When in Hawaii do as the Hawaiians do. In this case that means charge a bunch of tourists a hefty sum and then dump them in the ocean.  It was worth it.

This photo is from a snorkeling expedition off the coast of Maui.  That’s a sea turtle.

“Dude? Dude? Focus dude… Dude?”

See?

“Saw the whole thing, dude. First you were all like “whoa”, and we were like “whoa”, and you were like “whoa…”"

And that’s how it happened.  No Snorks were harmed in the writing of this post.

“RIGHTEOUS. RIGHTEOUS.”
