Under the Sign
There is a lot happening today at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Disneyland is launching their version of Star Tours 2.0 and Disney’s California Adventure is continuing its expansion with the debut of a new Little Mermaid ride.
That’s right, visitors at the Disneyland Resort are going to explore space and the deep, blue sea all in one day. That’s adventure, people!
The updated Star Tours ride will have the same amazing modifications as the Walt Disney World version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We’re talking 3D and multiple Star Wars experiences in each journey! I’ve heard good things.
The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is a dark ride featuring some of our favorite scenes from the movie BROUGHT. TO. LIFE. Believe it.
If you’re going to the parks today you should be prepared for some pretty big crowds, but as someone that has attended plenty of big events and special occasions at the Disneyland Resort, I can assure you that it is worth it!
Churros not included in the price of admission.

This is the droid you were looking for.
Star Tours, the popular Star Wars ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, will be opening version 2.0 today (May 20, 2011). It is also opening day for the 2011 Star Wars Weekends held in the park, which means it will be crazy crowded, but still fun.
Rumor has it that the new Star Tours ride is in 3D, features multiple destinations and numerous characters spanning all of the Star Wars films. Yes, even Jar Jar. (Check out this new Star Tours commercial via our friends at The Disney Blog.)
The Disneyland ride will reopen on June 3, 2011. They don’t have Star Wars Weekends at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, which is bunk, but expect the park to still be insanely busy for the 2.0 launch.

Please keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle.
When I was a kid the school bus was a terrifying place full of wedgies, spitballs and the occasional lunchbox out the window. We didn’t even have seat belts, which means that it was unsafe in addition to the childhood traumas it transported.
I can only imagine the shenanigans floating on the school boat.
That’s right, a school boat. The children pictured above are in Bangkok, Thailand and they are boarding the boat that will take them home from school. They don’t appear to have seat belts either. Or life jackets.
However, take away the fears of my youth and the idea of traveling to and from school via boat seems almost magical. Of course that magic would fade rather quickly during the rainy season, but on a sunny day — totally awesome.
It sure beats swimming uphill. Both ways. In the snow.

My teddy!
The only thing sadder than a child dropping their favorite toy is knowing that they’ll never be able to pick it up.
Oh well, makes for great art.
If you find yourself on the streets of Blackburn, England help the lad out.
