Stencils are popular with street artists — probably a time issue thing, and Norway is no different. Hence, this piece of stencil street art from the country that brought us a Beatles’ song about wood.
This post is part of the UpTake Public Art Series. If you see an interesting piece of public art, snap a picture and send it in. We’ll feature it on UpTake!
We’ve been inspired! This series usually showcases various pieces of commissioned public art, and we’ll continue to do so, but for the next few weeks we’re going to look at some awesome street art, too.

Happy Birthday, John.
This weekend would have been the 70th birthday of John Lennon. Can you imagine?
The wall pictured is in Prague, Czech Republic. I’ve been to it, back in the 90s when there was still a huge mural of Lennon’s face, but I can’t find the picture (see, pre-digital). [By the way, I've got some great Prague stories!]
There are a number of John Lennon shrines around the world, most notably this wall and areas in Liverpool and New York City. Also, my kid whose middle name is Lennon. Although he’s not really a shrine. Technically. What can I say, we’re fans.
This post is a Wordless Wednesday, but you’d never know it.

German Eats

We managed to get into the well-known Schusterjunge, an excellent jumping off point in Berliner cuisine should you be a first-timer. [Clockwise] Solianka (actually, a Russian soup, but popular here…and fantastic) Tea Bratwurst w/ roasties and sauerkraut…all in a sausage gravy – insane. The (in)famous digestive, Jagermeister. Apple Strudel with custard – went down in about 3 minutes. Gluewhein…sure, of out season, but they had some left from December. Read More »
