This is big. Linebacker big. Here, try this on for size:
The HP Playmaker All Star Meet and Greet Sweepstakes
One lucky winner selected at random will get:
* Two (2) tickets to the 2010 Pro Bowl on January 31, 2010 at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida
* A brief meeting with a playmaker like Baltimore Ravens Ray Lewis and/or New Orleans Saints Jonathan Vilma after Pro Bowl practice on January 29, 2010.
* Roundtrip air travel for the winner and guest to Miami, FL
* 5 days / 4 nights hotel stay in Miami, FL
* $500 gift card
See? I told you it was big. It’s also happening in the NOW. Carpe diem, people. The contest is open until Sunday at midnight (PST). Yes, this Sunday. UPDATED – THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGHOUT MONDAY! You may have to move quickly on this one. The winner will be announced on January 26th and then suitcases and airplanes. Or forget the suitcase and just wear your swimsuit – when in Miami and all that.
The good folks at HP and Playmaker Mobile are who you’ll be thanking, although a considerate email always makes me feel appreciated, too. Maybe flowers or an e-card… but I digress.
Who is HP? Really? Are you reading this on a rock? It’s HP. Period.
Who is Playmaker Mobile? They are a mobile sports application to connect fans with elite athletes like Ray Lewis, Jonathan Vilma, Donovan McNabb, Steve Nash, and Brandon Jennings, accessing behind the scenes news, photos, videos and live chats that you can’t get on facebook or twitter. Fans also get access to contests where winners enjoy meet & greet experiences and signed memorabilia. What they do is bring people together. Sports loving people. Right now they’re only bringing sports loving people together who have Verizon Wireless, but don’t worry, iPhone and Blackberry are on deck. See, that’s sports talk. That’s just an example of what they’re bringing to the table. Or phone as the case may be, but you get the idea.
Bottom line:
One lucky winner selected at random will get:
* Two (2) tickets to the 2010 Pro Bowl on January 31, 2010 at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida
* A brief meeting with a playmaker like Baltimore Ravens Ray Lewis and/or New Orleans Saints Jonathan Vilma after Pro Bowl practice on January 29, 2010.
* Roundtrip air travel for the winner and guest to Miami, FL
* 5 days / 4 nights hotel stay in Miami, FL
* $500 gift card
I know, I just repeated myself, but man – Miami in January? Football? Air travel? $500? This is travel at its finest and it’s on somebody else’s dime (see “Who is HP/Playmaker Mobile?” above). This here is what I like to call THE LIFE.
How do you enter? Easy, my friend, easy (must be 18+ and reside in the USA):

Gee, I know this has passed its due date, but what an exciting opportunity for someone. I would like to here from the winner. Did you enjoy the prize? Was it as you expected?
There are differing opinions on this: the presidents of the event feel that moving the Pro Bowl to the Sunday prior to the Super Bowl can add even more excitement to Super Bowl week, one of the most anticipated weeks of the year, while some feel that hosting the game two weeks early in Miami next year is a bad idea. They feel that the Pro Bowl won’t build the Super Bowl hype, it will just make fans less receptive to the rest of the ubiquitous Super Bowl hype. The truth is, it is silly that the cash-strapped state pays millions to host the Pro Bowl when the money could be used for education. Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie said he opposes a deal the state made in 2009 to pay $4 million per game for the rights to hold the NFL’s all-star game in Hawaii. “You can’t do things like give 4 million bucks to a $9 billion football industry and not give any money to children,” He said as he announced early-childhood education and health plans. “We’ve got to get our values straight and our priorities straight.” So, Miami or Hawaii? Sports centers and facilities are the same in both, what differs is the people and economic conditions.
