Get Out from Behind the Camera

In my family, I am the designated picture-taker for all vacations. Partly because I happen to really love photography, partly because I have this neurotic NEED to capture EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of our trip, and partly because nobody else wants to do it. Then there’s the blogger in me that likes to take shots of specific moments, about which my fingers itch to write as soon as I get back to my computer.

I take a lot of pictures of food, right there in the restaurant, to the eternal embarrassment of my husband.

Suffice to say, I spend more time behind the lens of my camera, then out in front of it enjoying whatever it is we’re doing.

Happy Stomachs Make for Happy Trips

Not that one should ever need an excuse to eat ice cream, but should you need an extra bit of justification blame it on vacation.  Vacations can be as healthy as you want them to be, but why? You’re on vacation.  If you see ice cream eat it.

Also acceptable, churros, anything deep-fried or anything on a stick.  Frozen yogurt can replace ice cream, but only if topped with chocolate or some like vice.

Get Plenty of Water – Summer Travel

If you’re undertaking the great American road trip you will soon realize that much of the United States is intersected by water.  It’s wet. Possible exceptions include the lower portions of Arizona and some counties in Utah and Texas, which are varying degrees of dry, respectively.

The point?  Man, you don’t need a point.  You see some water on a summer day, you need to stop and swim, surf, sit, ski and skip stones upon it.  Please obey all safety regulations, wear a flotation device (an airplane seat works nicely) and don’t stick your toes in unless you’ve waited the appropriate amount of time since eating.

Get wet.

Earth Day – The First Touch is the Sweetest

Coronado, California

Coronado, California

From its cool touch, salty smell and mighty power, introducing a small child to the vast Pacific ocean for the first time can be an amazing experience for both the parent and child. What better place than the sandy shore of Coronado in San Diego, California.
