Glowing votives line the trail at the Candlelight Ski event
Ski by the glow of candlight during the annual Candlelight Ski event at Whitefish Dunes State Park in Door County, Wisconsin. Scheduled for January 30 from 6-9PM, the activity features a fireplace in the picnic shelter and lots of hot drinks, popcorn and cookies. The park expects up to 400 participants for this popular event so gear up for crowds and lots of fun. Read More »

NYC to Missoula by road
Carol Cain is Founder and Publisher of The Adventures of a NYCity Mama and did somethign really brave – she drove from New York Cty to Missoula, Montana. That was a two week round trip with three boys and her husband. Any parent looking at this would bolt for the nearest exit. Most kids would too.
But the Cain family went ahead anyway and did it. Given the decreasing delight in air travel, a lot of people need to consider road trips. The Cain family braved the challenge, came through it well – so well, they are planning a cross country trip for next summer.

This is in Edmonton, Canada? It sure is! Uptake’s Jenny Bengen made a short visit to the city and stayed at a hotel inside the mall – one of two. Jenny tells us all about the mall – its HUGE. It has just about everything you could want to do if you’re traveling with a family. Under one roof the boys and frolic in the water park while the rest of family shops, dines or rests. Sounds like a winning combination for this winter if you live anywhere near Edmonton.

Here is a small selection of those dog-friendly parks:
The PETsMART Dog Park at Washington Park in Phoenix offers a spacious 2.65 acres in which your dog can frolic. The six-foot high perimeter fencing keeps your dog safe, while the watering station and shady trees keep your dog comfortable. There’s even a separate fenced area especially for small dogs.
