Now that, my friends, is much more than a sand castle. And Navarre Beach will be covered with more of these sand sculptures next weekend as the world’s top soft sand sculptors compete at the Navarre Beach Sand Sculpting Festival Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26.
Yes, there are “world’s top soft sand sculptors”, which just goes to show that you really can be anything you want when you grow up.
Not quite world class but want to see what you can do with the soft white sand? An amateur competition on Sunday will be open to twenty amateurs who can compete as individuals or in teams for cash prizes. Registration is free and can be completed online.
Of course, you don’t have to be a sand sculptor to enjoy the Sand Sculpting Festival. Watch the pros, marvel at the amateurs, and just enjoy the beautiful white sand and blue Gulf waters. I’m excited to have the chance to marvel at the sand sculptures while I’m visiting Santa Rosa County next weekend, although I think I’ll be leaving my bucket and shovel at home.
Can’t get to the beaches this weekend? There’s still time to enter to win a 4-night vacation in a beachside condo on Navarre Beach.

[...] Tomorrow afternoon I’m getting on an airplane for a business trip. To the beach. I received my itinerary by email and discovered that I’ll be enjoying a private tour of a nearby zoo and zip line facility. My beach-front condo is going to be stocked with food and drink so I can enjoy breakfast in my room before heading out to spend time at a sand castle competition. [...]
