Weaverville, North Carolina – Puting the Folk in Folksy
Set in close proximity to the lovely Pisgah National Forest. Nestled, and gently hugged by mountains and guarded by rivers, Weaverville has that Relief Factor. And, Brothers and Sister, I’ve not seen a Main Street this homespun since Bill Murray woke up in Punxsutawney.
Lets get you a place to stay, shall we? You know, unload the van, stretch your legs. The Inn on Main Street B&B has all you could ever need. And when the Mrs. and I stayed there, for Breakfast, they served us up a frittata made with veggies and herbs out of the garden on premises. Nice folks there.

Left Bank - Main Street Weaverville
Now that you have some fuel in you, lets get the kids into something before they eat the furniture. May I suggest Lake Louise. Just a short drive down HWY 23 (Meriman Ave.). Ducks, geese…..and more ducks. Lake Louise offers up a paved walking track perfect for strollers and when you hear the little Demons yell, “I’m sick of ducks! Ducks are stupid!” Just point them in the direction of the fantastic playground and have a sit down. The bench under the Willow tree is my favorite.
They’re probably hungry again by now. The children. Back to Main Street Weaverville. I suggest parking the car and taking a stroll. There are a plethora of establishments to choose from. Mikes Main Street grill with their ‘two-hands-required’ burgers, and stomach turning “Garbage Fries”. I think they may also have chicken nuggets. You’ll want extra Jalapenos on those fries. Trust me.
Want pizza? Who doesn’t want pizza? Blue Mountain Pizza.

The Right Bank - Weaverville, NC
Try the “Mountain Extravaganza”. You’ll have leftovers you can eat for dinner. Also, the local Brew is quite good. May I recommend Highlands – Gaelic Ale.
Perhaps, not likely but perhaps, you might be able to slip away for an afternoon to wrestle with some of the local Trout. Need a guide? Try Curtis Wright Outfitters. Say hello to my Old Man. He’ll either be out guiding on the River or in the back making hand split, hand planed Bamboo flyrods. Or, or he’s down the street at Mike’s. Eating Garbage Fries.
You’re going to need to walk off that lunch. I recommend a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Craggy Gardens. The trail is steep, but not sinister. The view is spectacular.
Now eat that leftover pizza in the Van on the way back to Main Street. Good. Now you can have your dessert. And isn’t that the Best part? That was rhetorical…of course it is.
The Well-Bred Bakery. A cornucopia of sweets and treats to choose from, but, but…..The Mountain Eclair. Soft pastry, smothered in chocolate, filled with a custard so divine you’ll weep. Oh. Did I mention that it was the size of a Prius? It is. Awesome.
Now, Go to bed, sleepy head. You can do it all again tomorrow.

Great post. Sounds like a terrific “off the beaten path” place to visit.
